International travel can involve unexpected disruptions such as flight delays, illness, travel interruptions, or other circumstances beyond anyone’s control. For this reason, CLE Abroad® strongly recommends that all participants obtain comprehensive travel insurance prior to departure. Many participants find that travel insurance provides valuable peace of mind when planning international travel. It will protect your travel investment and provide coverage in the event that unforeseen circumstances affect your plans.
While CLE Abroad carefully designs and operates each program, certain events—including airline disruptions, medical issues, weather conditions, or personal emergencies—may impact travel plans. Travel insurance helps ensure that participants are protected in these situations.
Some policies may also offer Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) coverage, which provides additional flexibility for cancellations not otherwise covered under standard policies.
When to Purchase Insurance
Many travel insurance providers require that policies be purchased shortly after making a travel deposit in order to qualify for certain benefits, including coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.
Participants are encouraged to review insurance options early and ensure coverage begins at the time of program registration.

CLE Abroad’s cancellation policies apply regardless of the reason for cancellation. Participants who wish to protect their travel investment are strongly encouraged to obtain appropriate insurance coverage.
